When I get asked where do you work and I say the Alzheimer's Association, I always hear a beautiful story about a loved one or someone they know who is currently living with Alzheimer's or dementia or has lost the battle with this disease. I heard it from the salesperson who sold us a car this summer, from the dental hygienist while cleaning my teeth and from the checker at the store when she saw me in my Alzheimer's shirt. This disease impacts everyone.
I work every day to provide education across the state, coordinate support groups and work with health systems to improve early and accurate diagnosis.
My grandmother had dementia. I used to think it was just part of normal aging. It's not. We can do better and you can help. Together we can end Alzheimer's disease.
