I have been a volunteer for the Walk to End Alzheimer's for the last 6 years after watching my Grandma Boyer suffer and eventually pass from the disease in 2015. Currently my husband’s Grandpa Jim is living with the disease as well as many of the clients whom I serve every day.
The last 18 months have undoubtedly been a struggle for all of us as we've lived amongst this COVID Pandemic. However, we've quietly lived through a second pandemic. While we social distanced and quarantined to help protect each other, our elderly were forced into isolation only accelerating the take over of the disease. What was once a thriving person, may now be a person struggling with the effects of dementia and/or Alzheimer's.
While I still walk for my Grandma Boyer, Grandpa Jim and the clients I serve, I am sad to say that I now too walk for my Gram, as she has fallen victim to this disease. I am so thankful for the support received over the years and hope that you will consider joining me in the fight against Alzheimer's.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
