I participate in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's to raise awareness and funds to advance the fight against Alzheimer's disease for my Father-in-Law Claude 'Dunc' Britt.
Mr. Britt was the Patriarch of the Britt family. He was that large presence in any room. Oh, he could sing! He sang in Church in a Trio - what a voice! If he wasn't singing, he was laughing. Children loved him; just gravitated to him. One reason is that he always had a pocket full of candy gift them. :-D
He loved his family! He was married to Mrs. Britt from the beginning of time it seemed. They have 7 wonderful children, lots of 'in-laws' and many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It breaks my heart that he did not meet my grandson Liam. His mother, my daughter, talks about him to Liam, shares stories, keeps his memory alive. We miss him everyday.
This disease took him from us. The fatal toll that it takes on a person physically, not just mentally, is gut-wrenching.
Too many people in our family have died from this terrible disease. This past year we also lost my step-father's mother, Mrs. Alberta Freeman. I walk for her memory. Also for my beloved Aunt Kathleen Strickland.
I raise money so that we can find a cure and my grandson Liam never needs to know what ALZ is. I raise money so that my daughter and my son and their father can have a brighter future without the cloud of Alzheimer's hanging over them.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's. To register, visit my page and click "join my team."
We are leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
