Back in 1987 when we first started worrying about our mom, Erlyce, having early onset of Alzheimer's, we really didn't know what we would be dealing with. She was in her early to mid-50's and our father had just passed away. The doctors thought her memory issues were due to the loss. But as time went on we saw that that was not the case. In the next 20 years we watched a beautiful classy lady deteriorate right before our eyes.
We have heard Alzheimer's called the long goodbye. It sure makes sense. All the firsts that happened and how it affected each one of us kids started at the onset, and ended the day she went to heaven to join our Dad. We knew at that time, she was singing with the heavenly choir with her beautiful older sister Loyce.
By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I am committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Alzheimer's is hereditary! As I get closer to the age my mom was when she started showing signs of Alzheimer's, I realize how important it is to do this fundraising. I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Please help our team Jevning Gems as we walk in our 10th Walk to End Alzheimer's on September 17, 2022. You can pledge towards members of our team at ACT.ALZ.ORG. or you could mail your donation to my home address and I will bring it along when I register at the walk.
Watch for details about our next Fundraiser which will be held at the Hallock Eagles on September 16, 2022.
