A year and a half ago my mom was diagnosed with Dementia stage 5. She has been at a memory care unit since diagnosed. My sister and I shared going to visit her and take her out. March 7,2020 her facility she lives in went on lockdown due to Covid. Last month she was in and out of the hospital, and was lathargic. Mom tested positive for Coronavirus and was asymptomatic, luckily she was on 98% own air, meaning she wasn't having any issues with breathing on her own. She recovered and was just as sassy as she was before. Sadly, Dementia and Alzheimers you see the outer shell of a loved one, but that's it. Sometimes there is a clarity moment and recognition is there. Usually ending in crying, she has no idea where she is, or how she got there and she is scared. I walk for my mom, and all others with this diagnoses so they don't have to be scared anymore. Find a cure!
