This is a milestone year walking for my Pou-Pou (Grandma), Nancy! 10 years ago our family began walking to end Alzheimer’s. My Pou Pou was diagnosed with dementia and then Alzheimer's in 2008. We were very fortunate for several years with her condition not progressing much. As of the last few years, she began to forget who her grandchildren were, but would do well with reminders. Now we no longer get those days of clarity. My grandma has also now passed the point of remembering her own children as well. Thankfully, she seems to always be comfortable around us, never questioning or being scared, although we may seem like strangers. Nowadays, every aspect of her day has to be supervised, including eating and hygiene care. My aunt, along with my mom and the rest of their siblings, take tremendous care of my grandma, regardless of those difficult days and challenging moments. Not only am I fighting for the first survivor, I am fighting for all of those affected by this debilitating disease.
As always, thank you so much for your continued support year after year! My fundraising efforts are all in thanks to you! My family and I greatly appreciate your donations and always love having new team members to walk with us. <3
