I'm very proud of my son-in-law, who spent over 25 years as a law enforcement officer. At retirement, his plan was to work part time as a clerk for a local judge. That dream was cut short when he was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's. I was (am still am) angry to watch someone full of life and caring and hard work and dedication have to face Alzheimer's. I was (and still am) angry that my daughter looked so forward to their being able to do many things while still young enough. And even though she loves him so much, and is prepared and determined to make this journey with him, it's just not fair. And so I will Walk to END Alzheimer's, and pray that my son-in-law will be among the first actual survivors of this disease that takes lives long before their final breath. I hope to honor him, to strengthen her, and to find ways that I can provide some care and support to them.
