Wow, hard to believe it’s been 30 years since my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s! I remember it like it was yesterday. I knew almost nothing about Alzheimer’s at that time…..but I decided there was so much I needed to know. I have learned a lot since then. Largely in part to the help and people of our local Alzheimer’s Association in Des Moines. Support people, meetings, learning sessions, materials, 24/7 help line, did I mention the people? So kind and supportive. And that hasn’t changed…..
Our local association is still helping support people with Alzheimer’s and their families as well as the ongoing research. So please join me in whatever way you can to support them. Donating, join our team and do you own fundraising, start your own team, or send me any ideas for new fundraising that might help me do better.
I still Walk to End Alzheimer’s to honor the memory of my Dad! I also try to help others with my experiences. Please reach out if you have questions or if there’s anything I can do to help you, your family or friends that might need support because of the horrific disease. Love and God bless!
