On November 5, 2022 I will be walking in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. My father, Bob, passed away from Alzheimer's on November 8, 2002. 20 years of fundraising for Alzheimer's. 20 years of trying to raise awareness. 20 years of trying to prevent myself from getting Alzheimer's. My mother, Celina, also has Alzheimer's and is currently in the later stages.
My father would always try to make you laugh or smile. He loved to tell jokes. April Fools Day was his favorite holiday. In honor of my father's humor, I want to make fundraising for this year's walk FUN! I will be doing challenges or activities that will hopefully make you smile while donating.
As a daughter of Alz, I have had to learn to appreciate the little moments and try to find humor in the most difficult of days. Although you may see me smile, do not for one moment think that this is easy. I do not wish this disease on anyone. No one should have to see a loved one go through this once, yet alone twice.
Every dollar helps. These funds allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
If you cannot donate at this time, please keep me and all of the other walkers in your prayers. Those prayers are what gives us the strength to push forward, to be a caregiver, to Walk.
Thank you for reading and for participating in the fight to End Alzheimer's.
