My first walk was on the one year anniversary after my Aunt Arvilla had passed away and I wanted to honor her and show my support for Alzheimer's research. My friend asked if I would like to walk with him as he supported his father who had been recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Each walk has been an amazing experience. With COVID restrictions it made last year a very difficult time for my friend and his family as well as another dear friend. They had limited visits, no touch/contact, and mandatory masks for any in person visits in what was the last few months they would spend with their parents. This year I will walk to honor all three of our loved ones as well as anyone afflicted with Alzheimer's and their caretakers.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
