I have a very close and personal relationship with Alzheimer's. I watched my strong, healthy, funny, good time loving dad slowly waste away from this awful disease. At first, it was small things. He couldn't find his keys or he forgot where he was going when driving down the road. Then, it was bigger things like not being able to recognize his own granddaughter and son in law. My mother took care of him at home for 10 years, despite everyone assuring her it would be ok to admit him to a nursing home. I watched her struggle with the duties of being his caregiver. I watched my dad struggle with his nonreality. Years were stolen from all of us and it simple isn't fair. No one should ever have to suffer this illness. Please join me in the war against Alzheimer's and Dementia either by joining me on a walk or a simple small donation so that other families may have a fighting chance.
