I am walking with Team Amy's Army in this year's Alzheimer's walk to honor my Grammy. She lived with me my whole life until Dec. 26, 2019 when she had to move into a Nursing home. When I was little, we played baseball in her living room with my friends. She was the pitcher (from her chair) and we hit the ball and ran to the bases all around her room. She didn't care that we hit her lamps and knocked pictures off of the wall. It's like she knew how valuable it was to make such fun memories for me. My friends thought it was so cool. As I got older, she came to see me play in all my baseball games, basketball games, swim meets, chorus concerts and awards ceremonies. Nothing stopped her from attending, but as time went on she wouldn't remember that she saw me play. She would apologize for not making it to my games - even though she was sitting in the stands cheering loudly for me. My Grammy died March 23, 2022 and I miss her so much.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation of any amount or join my team - Amy's Army. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
Jason
