I'm walking to honor Amy Shimkus, my friend Tracy's mom. Over the last 9 years I have watched Tracy care for her mom as they lived with this cruel disease. Words can not even describe the suffering they both went through, along with the rest of their family. Tracy, just like her mom Amy, is one of the strongest women I have ever known and as someone who has been fortunate enough to have parents who have remained healthy in their later years, I would like to raise as much money as possible to battle this disease through research and to help support all those who are living with it.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
