I'm walking in memory of my Mom, Rema Moren. I lost her on May 12, 2015, although it seems like I lost her a lot earlier than that. Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease - one that causes your loved ones to lose you a little at a time until you are finally gone physically. The last couple of years of Mom's journey, she only knew me as "her big sister, Lucy" which was always very hard, but her reality.
Within 6 months, I lost my Dad, John, too. I'm convinced he was so shattered by her loss and her disease, that he couldn't go on. So, in a way, Alzheimer's contributed to the loss of both of my parents within 6 months of each other.
Please help us to find a cure and STOP this disease!
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
