2021 continues to be an unprecedented year filled with hope, reflection, pain and joy that I will never forget. But I made a committment to myself and family to help end Alzheimer's disease. So, I will be walking again this year on 10/16/21.

I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. I'm walking to honor my Grandmother. I'm walking as a woman of color. I'm walking to support those who care for the needed. I'am walking as an AKA member. I'm walking because this disease disproportionately affects African-Americans and women. I'm walking cause I can make a difference. I am walking as a member of the Solano County AlZ Walk Committee. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.

My Grandmother Theresa lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease January 2016. Her light was my sun and gave me strength everyday to grow into the women I am today. People always wonder where I get my positive outlook on life, my desire to see good in people, my happy spirit and it ALL started with her. She is the BLESSING that keeps giving to me and MY family. If you had the distinct pleasure of meeting my Grandmother you know and understand the affect she had on everyone she came in contact with especially her students. Her legacy and love lives on through me.

Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
