Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you!
Hello, My name is Bobbie Joe Cavazos. In 2018 I was diagnosed with early on-set alzheimer's disease. I went through several test to get that diagnosis. Upon hearing the diagnosis although I wasn't shocked per say, I was devastated! You see, I come from a long family history of people in my family who have suffered with this cruel disease! When I was in my early 20's I took care of my Great Grandma Porter who had alzheimer's. She was not the first person in my life that I saw go through this Vile disease. I had watched several family members over the years suffer. Now, it looks like it's my turn and it's even more cruel because I consider myself to still be young at heart! Today, as I write this I am 45 years old. I am the mother of 7 beautiful children and the wife of almost 25 years to the most beautiful man I could have ever married! I've always been a fighter. So that's why I wanted to get involved. I won't go to in detail about my past but here's just a little history. I had both a wonderful and horrible childhood. Filled with wonderful and frightful memories. I was an Athlete that could Pitch an 80mph softball and loved every minute of it and at one time was blessed enough to play with the Awesome first Women USA Olympic Softball Pitcher Lisa Fernandez From UCLA. I'm proud to say I learned her change up! One of my many accomplishments thanks to my Awesome Papa Russell Wayne Porter! My other Great accomplishments where meeting my husband and having our children! Best choices I have ever made! Also, I have suffered so much in my life and I am so thankful for that as well. For all the hard times that I have gone through, I know I wouldn't be here today and I wouldn't have learned all the hard lessons that I needed to learn without going through all of it....even when it seemed like too much to go through! I have also suffered through Great Loss! Losing loved ones is hard, but when you actually die yourself it's a tremendous loss, but it's also an awakening!!! Yes, On Oct. 13th, 2019 I died from a SCA for 18 minutes at Mercy Hospital in Merced, Ca, they saved my Life! I am so thankful and Grateful! So, this is why I am doing what I am doing. God sent me back with a purpose. When I was in heaven God told me to come back and make a change in the World and that's what I intend to do with Walking to End, Alzheimer's disease!!! Please, help me help other's and let's join this fight Together! Spread the Love, Everyone!!! Love Always, Bobbie Joe Cavazos
