Nine months ago, I began working with persons suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. Without prior experience, I doubted I would make a difference but decided to learn as much as possible. I have made a difference because the people I develop programs and activities for are intelligent, accomplished individuals who continue providing inspiration and encouragement with their skills and life experiences. My mentor is one of them. From our collaboration, writing a memoir about living with the disease while helping others validates our sense of purpose. Alzheimer's will not get in the way of our endeavors.
Many families are suddenly faced with a life-changing situation and unsure how to proceed once their loved one is diagnosed with the disease. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Thank you all for donating and for being in my life - I have come alive again thanks to you and my mentor.
