This will be my first year without Mom cheering for me here on earth as we walk to end Alzheimer's. She passed away at 100 years of age on May 18, 2022. I was privileged to be her care partner for 16 years and be at her side when she passed. I am determined that any person with dementia and their family does not feel alone thanks to the outreach of the Alzheimer's Association and my volunteer efforts for them. You can only truly understand what a family is going through if you have lived it.
Two statistics stand out to me: (1) Every 65 seconds in America, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s, and (2) Women make up 2/3 of Americans diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. That makes Mom who lived to be 100 quite the miracle to have survived for so long with dementia. Thanks to her loving caregivers at her Infinite Love and Care home and friends and family, she had the best of support on her journey.
Please make a donation to advance the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. IF YOU DONATE $50 OR MORE TOWARD MY PERSONAL GOAL, I WILL HAPPILY MAKE YOUR FAVORITE PIE or CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES AND DELIVER TO YOUR DOOR (Pie delivery available only within a 25-mile radius. If you live farther away, please choose cookies so I can mail them to you!) IF YOU DON'T WISH GOODIES FOR YOUR $50+ DONATION, PLEAE LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE ME TO KNIT TWO CUSTOM DISHCLOTHS TO MATCH YOUR KITCHEN COLORS AND MAIL THEM TO YOU.
Thank you for joining Mom and me in the fight against Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
Sending peace, and hope,
Mary Lou and Mom (Mary Ann)
