My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2017 when I was in college. At this point, my knowledge of Alzheimer's was very limited so I didn't fully understand what the future had in store.
As time passed and his condition got worse, I slowly realized I was losing my best friend and what that really meant for my life.
Dementia is often described as the long goodbye and throughout these years I have been experiencing grief and loss. Every stage of dementia is another grieving process that no one should have to go through. Memories should last a lifetime!
"Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease."
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
