I walk because in my family we have been greatly impacted by Alzheimer's. I walk for my mom's family, where 8 of 11 siblings were diagnosed with Alzheimer's in their lifetime. I am one of six siblings and the 3 oldest have been diagnosed with AD and one is undergoing testing. My father's side of the family has also been impacted with AD with a cousin and her husband both diagnosed and eventually passing away of AD.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease. I am currently enrolled in 2 AD research studies through UW-Madison and have been accepted into a new clinical trial for a new medication that shows promise to stabilize and perhaps slow development of Alz Disease. That would be a huge moment for us.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please prayerfully consider making a donation of any size to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. If you go to the Alzheimer's Association site for the walk, and search for team name Wedwick Warriors, you can donate under my name and it adds to the team total as well. The cure is out there ... every dollar takes us one step closer so that you may never have to deal with this devastating disease.
