I'm Dad writing this for Lynne and the Lynne & Grammy Helen Family Team's walk to end Alzheimer's on October 2nd, 2021. We want to create awareness because it took Grammy Helen and was diagnosed in Lynne her age of 51. I think she can walk a short distance, at least, so I have decided to walk this year.
Lynne's been at Aegis-Madison in assisted living while her boys live with Clemens. She's very proud of how well her boys are doing. Several COVID quarantines have isolated her, which is hard on her and probably has impacted her decline. She has permission to roam the lobby and hallways. She has come through the setbacks and has recently attended two music concerts witih friends and Dad. We are thankful for every opporrtunity to socialize with her while we have chance.
Dad still lives in an apartment two blocks away and visits her almost daily to put on headphones for Spotify lists of favorites from friends and family. Dad continues his blog, NeverthessDementiaWePersist and posting it on Lynne’s Facebook and Dad’s Facebook pages.
We're deeply committed to raise awareness of this monumental tragedy for families and healthcare systems. Alzheimer's disease is the only leading cause of death in the US that cannot be prevented, cured or slowed. Ominously, the death rate is accelerating and the number of new cases is projected to triple by 2050, when our grandsons and granddaughters will be Lynne’s age. Please give us hope for their future by donating to the Lynne & Grammy Helen Russell Family.
Every dollar will go to the non-profit Alzheimer’s Association, a 501(c)3 organization for research, advocacy and awareness .
