My mother, Susan Purnell, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in her mid-50s. She now is in the late stage of this disease and my father is her primary caregiver. Our entire family has had to learn how to adjust to care for her ever changing needs. I love my mother as much as any son could and I walk to show my love and support for her as well as for those that are impacted by this disease.
The Walk to End Alzheimer's aims to raise financial support to fund research and increase awareness to find a cure. In addition, the Alzheimer's Association provides many different services for those seeking help, including a 24x7 hotline to a licensed care professional that can help families cope and even outline a plan of care for their loved ones. My family has used this very service in 2021 for researching next steps for my Mother's care. I believe in this organization's vision. Will you join me and participate in advocating for a cure?
The Seattle Walk to End Alzheimer's is scheduled for Saturday morning, October 2, 2021.
Whether we’re together at a large in-person gathering or in small groups in our individual neighborhoods, we’re walking in 2021 — and I invite you to join us.
Please know you do not have to live in Seattle to join my team. Thank you so much for your support!
