I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Personally, I have been affected by Alzheimer's through my grandma. She suffered with Alzheimer's for over 10 years and unfortunately passed away 5 years ago. My grandma started experiencing the debilitating symptoms of Alzheimer's, like decreased speech and mobility, a little after I was born. I was never able to have a discussion with her or walk with her, since she couldn't speak and was in a wheelchair. My grandpa cared very much for her. He hired nurses and paid for her expensive treatment. However, the only current treatment for Alzheimer's increases life expectancy. There is no cure. My grandpa showed what continuous love and support for a person was by doing all he could to help my grandma. Through this organization, I want to follow in his footsteps by raising awareness for the disease and fundraising.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
