My mother is 70 years old. She was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s almost 6 years ago. This disease has eaten her alive. Just a few months ago she was walking and now she no longer walks. She sits in a geriatric chair all day when she’s awake. There’s days she sleeps 18 hours a day. She can’t feed herself, she has to be changed (it’s kind of like having a baby around), she only knows a few words, but one thing she still does is tell me, “I love you, baby,” when I tell her I love you. I’m the only one she remembers. She’s declining but not as fast as she was. I think she’s kinda stable for the moment. Thank you for your donations. This is for her, not me. She means the universe to me and I want her to be able to be here as long as possible. We love you and thank you.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
