My Mom will be 67 on June 12th and is in a full time memory care facility. She doesn't know any of us anymore, but we will always remember her before the disease took hold. She started showing signs of Alzheimer's many years ago and has been robbed of so much time with us. There are so many things that she has passed on to my sisters and I that I will always cherish - a love of The Beatles music, making Christmas sugar cookies, our love for the Hawaiian islands and so many more. Her mother, Phyllis Rogers, also showed early signs of Alzheimer's. She loved to sew, made the best homemade chicken & noodles and chocolate chip brownies and gave us all a big and amazing family. So many of my childhood holidays include Christmas Eve family traditions with my aunts, uncles and cousins. Alzheimer's took away both of their memories but I am determined not to let it take mine.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
