Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I will be joining the walk efforts this year in honor of my Aunt, Faye Harless who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and also as a result of my over 30 year career working directly in geriatrics and specifically dementia focused industries. I began my career at Baptist Hospital with an incredible team of professionals in the Geriatric Assessment Program, and then also as a Social Worker on the Gero Psych floor. It was there that I was shaped and formed through all the newly developed research efforts that have continued to move forward through today, and the stellar efforts of the Assessment Program in treating dementia and supporting caregivers. I saw from the very beginning the devastating effects on patients, and the enormous impact and burdens carried by caregivers. And now it has touched my own family. I am blessed to spend my career continuing to bring focus to this disease and helping families impacted by it grow through each day as we each contribute individually to the hope of one day soon, the cure!
All families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
