I am a Gerontologist by education, so I have been studying and working with older adults all of my life. Right out of college, I took a job at an assisted living and memory care community. I fell in love with all my residents, slowly became the advocate for those who didn't have anyone. I got involved with the Alzheimer's Association because I believe that many people don't understand the disease or remotely know the resources available to them. As someone who is an aging professional, I struggle every day with the right thing to do for my dad and I talk to people everyday that are struggling to manage.
My dad was diagnosed with Lewy Bodies dementia ten years ago, the changing dynamic has been overwhelming but ironically my relationship with my dad is closer and more vulnerable than it ever has been. I am making sure that my father's fight against Alzheimer’s isn’t forgotten. That’s why I'm participating in the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s — to help raise funds to end this fight!
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
