In 2017, we lost our father, grandfather and hero who suffered from dementia and Alzheimer's for almost 7 years. The smartest, funniest and most informed man we knew had trouble remembering our names, where he was from and, eventually, was unable to verbally communicate with us. The man who had survived 34 missions as a WWII B-24 bomber pilot and being held as a POW now struggled to perform simple tasks.
I will work for a cure to this disease that robs the patient and loved ones of so much. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
