We hope this finds you and your families safe and healthy at this very unique time in our lives. Thank you for your interest in supporting us.
Deb and I are walking to help reclaim the future for millions. We'd like you to join us. By participating in the virtual 2020 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's (WTEA), we are again committing to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer research, care and support.
I have been a Board Member for the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter (AADVC) for 12 years - since my time leading the Alzheimer's development team at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. I continue as Board Chair so I can have greater personal impact. Through this longtime engagement, I have seen first-hand the needs of patients and their caregivers - and the incredible effect the Delaware Valley Chapter team has had in helping them. Alzheimer’s disease continues to be a massive unmet medical need and, if unresolved, will have devastating societal effects. I see the impact of the disease on families everyday through my work with the Chapter; unfortunately, their challenges - like for many of us - are exacerbated in the midst of a global pandemic.
We aren't having a huge gathering at Citizen's Bank Park this year (in the past, the Philadelphia WTEA has had the largest attendance in the country). We are still walking - this year in our local communities - to raise awareness of our tireless fight to end Alzheimer's.
If you haven’t been directly impacted by Alzheimer's, you are very fortunate. The National Institutes for Health funded a study that determined Alzheimer's is the costliest disease in America. I think we all fear this disease will impact our families - not only because of the cost but also because it affects memory, thinking, judgement and behavior. Thankfully the US government has significantly stepped up its funding for Alzheimer's research - in large part due to the efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. The Association is having massive impact on many fronts; your assistance can help us accelerate and expand on that
We need your support to do our part! Please join our Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and/or make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into prevention, treatment and a cure for Alzheimer's. For the 5 million Americans and their 16 million caregivers already affected by the disease, the Alzheimer's Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities in the Delaware Valley and nationwide - many of which are free to those in need.
Thank you for your consideration.
The end of Alzheimer's disease starts here.
