I am walking in memory of too many people to name--four generations of my family in a row; family members of friends; actors and authors who made the world a better place; and countless patients I helped care for as a hospice volunteer.
But most of all, I'm walking for my mother, who is fighting her battle against dementia with all of her considerable courage, grace, and compassion. Her wish is that somehow, her fight will do good for others. Participating in the Walk is one of the small ways I can help make her wish come true: by helping to fund the programs that have given so much hope and support to my family, and the research that will one day eradicate dementia.
