Alzheimer’s disease is relentless. So are we!
We are a close-knit Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group that meets at Memorial Road church of Christ in Edmond, OK during normal times....but have been meeting via Zoom since March of 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Our group formed back in August 2019 and our goal is to support and encourage one another, while caring for loved ones. The Alzheimer's Association has such a wealth of information that we are excited to tap into as we walk this journey together.
We invite you to support our team for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Our team name is "MRCC Memory Keepers". Part of that memory keeping, is honoring our loved ones who have the disease. Remembering the vitality and special contributions that they have made in this world. In my case, that is my father, Gayland Burke. He succumbed to this illness several years back, but we are so thankful for the legacy that he left for those of us who remain. My mom was his caregiver, and I walk to honor both of them!
In addition, this year our team would like to honor Jim Rogers, one of our faithful caregivers who we have grown to love during this past year of meetings. He was so dedicated to his wife, Ann, and was a great example for all of us. He left this life today, January 26, 2021. We ask that you help honor his life by making a donation to our Walk Team, "MRCC Memory Keepers", or to an individual on our team. We would also love to have you join us for the Walk to End Alz on October 23, 2021 as we take steps to beat this disease.
