My dad, Jack, passed away in 1997 as a result of complications from dementia thought to have been caused by the anesthesia during quadruple open heart surgery in 1986. During his life, he championed many causes, such as serving food to the homeless on the street during the holidays and becoming an advocate to those undergoing heart surgery through the Mended Hearts organization. Once diagnosed, he supported our need for knowledge & support from the Tulsa Alzheimer's Assoc. As a family, we have participated in many walks and I honor him in the championing of this great cause!
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
