Like everyone else who has had a loved one suffer from this disease, we have a story to tell. Here's mine!! In 1990, I knew that my mother had the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. I went to visit her one day. I stopped at her mailbox, picked up the mail, and went inside and sat with her at her kitchen table. In the mail, there was a bill. I said to her. " Here's a bill that has to be paid. " Within the next half hour, she asked me half a dozen times, " What's that bill? " I said a half a dozen times, " it has to be paid. " That's when I knew something was wrong. The other sign was she was heating water on an electric stove for instant coffee and forgot it was boiling. It wasn't till much later that the realization that she was suffering from Alzheimer's sank in. Over the years, it got worse and worse until she died in 2001 from this disease. The last year, she didn't know me. Imagine NOT knowing or remembering your son that she raised for 50 years, being asked " WHO ARE YOU? " Alzheimer's is TRULY the one disease where it affects those around the one who is suffering. AWFUL, JUST AWFUL!!! So for my mother, AGNES GALBRAITH ESSIGMAN, is why I fight this disease. On my page, you see a rolling list of those businesses who have been gracious enough to donate in various ways to my team. PLEASE, PLEASE patronize these stores. I'm sure you recognize their names and when you do PLEASE THANK THEM FOR SUPPORTING THIS CAUSE!!!! INDIVIDUALS can donate on this page as well! ANY AMOUNT YOU CHOOSE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
