Mom recently passed on August 27, 2021 at age 82. She lived a full life and loved to cook, travel, garden and dance. The poem below was written by a dear friend at the Alzheimer's Association for mom and I'd like to share it with you.
You found it hard to remember
the names, the year, the date.
I know it was confusing, and it made you hesitate.
I did my best to understand, be patient and be kind.
I listened and of all forgotten details I’d remind.
I recalled all that you did for me, to help me grow up strong.
I realized it was now my turn to help you get along.
I knew you still loved music. You danced and you would smile.
I’d play your favorite tunes & you’d recall for a little while.
We tried to keep you longer, but it wasn’t in God’s plan.
It’s time to say goodbye for now and thank you for the dance.
So please help us END Alzheimer’s by supporting this year’s walk on October 3rd. There’s still plenty of time to create a team or donate to a team.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
