My pawpaw Shaw always said:
"If you ever get a hold on something you can't handle, turn it loose."
Such a wise man. But unfortunately, one thing he could not turn loose of, was this illness. Alzheimer's disease impacted my pawpaw in a way that forced us to watch him fade away right in front of our eyes. The process of this disease is what’s so painful— for the one with the disease, but also for the support system. But this disease doesn’t define my pawpaw. We will not allow that to happen! He was so much more. And he is why I am passionate about this cause and will continue to fundraise, raise awareness and walk in my pawpaw's memory.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's! And please continue praying for my family.
