This year is strange, you know what I mean?
But Walk Day’s still happening, despite Covid 19!
The Walk may look different but the message’s the same.
We’re in it to win it! There’s memories to reclaim!
Will you join us in walking? If so, get signed up!
You can walk alone, with your family, with me, or your pup!
Registering is easy, so get up and get going.
I’ll drop you the link at the end of this poem!
The Walk is everywhere, in this crazy twenty-twenty.
You’ll see flowers and flags and purple a-plenty!
We’re raising awareness, we’re praying for a cure,
We’re determined and relentless, our cause will endure!
Cases are rising, and I don’t mean the Rona.
Dementia and Alzheimers bring a whole new persona.
It attacks without reason, it changes your life.
It can hit you, your friend, your husband, your wife!
We all have our reasons for being committed.
Alzheimers is harsh, it’s brutal and wicked!
I walk for my people who don’t have their voice,
for Gail, Peggy, Daddy, for Richard, for Joyce.
We’re fiercely raising funds and I need your assistance.
Even while we’re walking, we’ll keep social distance.
If you’ll spare a few bucks, it will be a great victory.
Of the state’s 19 walks, serious energy’s in Hickory!
So, my team’s Charlie’s Angels and my name’s Gina Jenkins.
Through all your encouragement, my goal, it strengthens.
I need your donation, I need your support.
Our Walk here in Hickory’s on October 24th!
Now since you’ve hung on and have read to this spot,
surely you’ve realized, a poet I’m not!
I’m just a Realtor, one of the best, if you please!
Help me out with a donation to fight Alzheimer’s disease!
