We're doing it again., but--like everything else--it will look a lot different this year due to COVID-19. The Walk to End Alzheimer's will not be held "live" at Target Field this year. It will be virtual, and all of us walkers are encouraged to still walk SOMEWHERE on that day (Saturday, September 26). So...our extended family will be walking together in the Twin Cities in honor/memory of our dad/grandpa/great grandpa (Leonard) who died of Alzheimer's and Lewy Body Dementia in 2014. We are in this fight together and are passionate about doing what we can to END ALZHEIMER'S! This will be the second time we will be walking without our mom/grandma/great grandma who died in March 2019. She was so passionate about ending Alzheimer's, helping others who live with it and changing the stigma of the disease. We will represent her in our fight too! She SO enjoyed these Alzheimer's walks we've done for the past few years. Any of you that have seen anyone struggle through this know what a devastating disease it is. We need to find a cure and find ways to help other families who have a family member living with dementia. We do this walk to honor our dad/grandpa/great grandpa!
Our family received incredible support, advice and care through the Alzheimer's Association during the hardest parts of Leonard's journey with this disease.
We are fundraising again this year. The Alzheimer's Association needs your support this year more than ever! Let's try to do all we can to fight this disease that is affecting so many more people each year...and so many people being diagnosed early--even in their 50's! Without having their live gala and live walks, the association needs your/our support more than ever to keep delivering the vital services they offer. Please consider a gift...and give generously!
After our dad/grandpa/great grandpa died, our family created a non-profit to give back to communities in which our businesses have served. We focus on Healthcare (dementia being one), faith, family values, education and strengthening communities! This is the ASTRUP FAMILY FOUNDATION, a 501(c)(3) organization. We hope for this foundation to go on in perpetuity. The Astrup Family Foundation Board of Directors have decided to--again this year--match ALL DONATIONS TO OUR WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S (ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION) DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR UP TO $15,000 this year!! We hope you will consider giving generously...or giving any gift at all! Anything you give will be DOUBLED by the foundation! Thank you for considering a gift and for joining us in the fight to END ALZHEIMER'S!
