To my greatest supporters - family friends and coworkers, thank you for visiting my page! Let me start by saying, you all are amazing and helped us to raise over $200,000 in the last 11 years, incredible! We all love Lucy!!!
As many of you are aware, my dedication to this cause was elevated to a new level after we lost my sweet, loving mother Lucy to Alzheimer's disease in September of 2015, following the 2015 Walk. Her passing was devastating, but it has also inspired me to become more and more involved.
This year marks our 11th year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. We are excited to get back to target Field AND the Bash for Brains this year! We are once again setting our goals high and striving to make as much impact as we can to help end this devastating disease!
A goal of mine as well will be to once again focus on Advocacy work - hope we can get back to Washington D.C. in 2022! I would love to be in person again as our stories as so impactful to representatives of MN. Although forum will be virtual again, the Alzheimer's Association has already begun to map out the focus of pre-planning meetings with our representatives. When we are back on Capitol Hill next year, we will attend meetings with our Minnesota delegation to gain support of a number of new bills circulating - focusing on additional funding for Alzheimer's research along with additional efforts that support education and care. Coming out of our last couple trips, NIH funding has increased significantly, bringing our total to over $2.2 Billion annually!
Finally, I continue to conquer this world as a motherless mother. I hate the idea of Grayson experiencing this kind of pain, which is my #1 reason for fighting this good fight. I speak for my entire family when I say that Lucy's passing was one of the darkest times in our lives, but we know she has shined down on us all in some amazing ways and we are grateful that she is now resting in peace. I want to honor her the only way I know how and that is by wiping out this horrific disease once and for all. Thank you for standing by me.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
