Once again I am doing the walk to honor my Dad. On August 2nd it will be 8 years since I said my final goodbye to him and gave him one last kiss. But anyone who has ever lost a family member to Alzheimer's will know that you are gradually saying goodbye every time you see them. This is the first time a company I worked with agreed to co-sponsor a team with me. Thankyou to Wintrust Mortgage for co sponsoring with SDK CPAs as proud sponsors of this worthwhile fundraiser.
My Dad taught me so many things from his love of gardening to mowing the lawn and enjoying Minnesota Summers. As his memory faded so did the wonderful dad I knew. I watched him fade away before my eyes. From forgetting words to not remembering my name. IMy dad would have turned 90 this year. He missed the birth of my three granddaughters along with the weddings of all three of my children. He only got to meet one of my son in laws. He would have loved my other son in law along with my daughter in law. I missed being able to dance with him at their weddings along with watching him bounce his great-granddaughters on his lap. He fought cancer so he could enjoy the milestones to come. I walk to help stop this horrible disease.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's(R). Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's! I appreciate your help in making or exceeding my goal. If you are fortunate to still have living parents and they live nearby give them an extra hug and cherish the time you have with them.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
