This photo is one of my Mom when she was young. Before she ever knew the word Alzheimer’s. Because of her disease I learned things about my Mom from her “younger” self. As she retreated from her present into her past and spoke of things she remembered. Some I didn’t like hearing, some I found interesting , sometimes she was just plain funny. My Mom was a good looking woman and wasn’t shy. Once when I took her to the doctor to be tested the doctor holding up 3 fingers asked her what she saw before her. (Expecting her to say say 3 fingers); she replied “A good looking man”. While I remember and smile at her antics, I’m grateful it didn’t show until she was in her 80’s. Some are not so lucky and lose their memories much earlier.
Because of the Covid lockdown the walk at the Detroit zoo was canceled. But not our fundraising efforts to illuminate this terrible disease. Please help us raise the funds to reach the Mid Michigan goal.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
