Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
It was an honor to care for both my parents. I relied on the Alzheimers Assoc. for a wealth of valuable information that helped me care for them. While it was a difficult journey for all of us I can say I am a much better person because of it. I try to look to the bright side of things that happen to you in your life. Caring for both of them gave me such precious time with them I otherwise would not have gotten along with many special moments. I can say my children who were here and helped opened their eyes and embraced their grandparents. However, I wouldn't wish this dreaded disease on anyone and I will fight till I can no longer fight to help find a cure. It effects not only the ones who have Alzheimers but their caregivers. In many families the caregiving falls to one family member, which is a sad shame and that creates venomous feelings toward the other siblings. So there is a trickle down effect many don't realize. Relationships are ruined.
I'm not just fighting for my parents, but my aunts, uncles and friends. It doesn't just effect the elderly, early onset Alzheimers is among a fast growing population. So if you think that it doesn't happen until you old, think again. This is a battle I hope we win soon!
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
