Ever since she was diagnosed several years ago, my wife Sharon has been trying her best to stay with us. Like others stricken with Alzheimer’s, we are losing a bit more of who she is every day.
Our team name is a play off of the stanza "I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys" from King Solomon’s Song of Songs. Like the colors of the flowers of the plant's many varieties, Roses of Sharon is made up those who are or have been affected by Alzheimer's. We are walking to raise money for new treatments for all who are and will be stricken by this life stealing disease.
My fundraising goal is modest but this disease is relentless. Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
