My dear Mum, Lucy Helen (Turner) Colby, passed away in 2003 after battling this dreadful disease for about 7 years. It was in honor of her memory that I first participated in the Alzheimer's Tri-Ride in 2012 with my daughter. This was a wonderful experience! Since then, my wife and I have participated in the Central NH Walk to End Alzheimer's as a small way both to honor Lucy and to help raise awareness and funding for Alzheimer's research.
In 2017, my sister Dorothy passed away after she also received a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, giving me even more motivation to participate in the walk for a cure.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you and me doing a little bit. Together we can do much.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
