The efforts to find effective treatments, possibly even a cure, for Alzheimer’s disease are near and dear to my heart. My paternal grandma, Margaret Janko Cohen, suffered terribly from Alzheimer’s for several years before succumbing to the disease when I was in college. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who showed her fierce loyalty to our family daily. My favorite times with her were spent watching beauty pageants on TV “(No, Grandma, I am NOT prettier than Miss Georgia!”), eating Klondike bars, and raiding her candy stash - usually all at the same time.
By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and all other dementia need us now more than ever — and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
