2020 brings new challenges for me as I continue to support this amazing cause as the Chair of the Lake County Walk to End Alzheimer's. Our Walk is one of the top in the state and it is because of the hard work of the amazing volunteers and donors like you that we continue to be so successful!
With the birth of my daughter, I am more committed to seeing a survivor of Alzheimer's Disease in my lifetime. Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
Alzheimer's disease is a growing epidemic that affects one in three people in the communities where we work and live and is now the nation's sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond the estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer's today. This is why the Sigma Kappa Foundation is committed to "Making Alzheimer's a Distant Memory" by creating a major funding stream to the national Alzheimer's Association for research to find a cure.
Through Alzheimer's disease and gerontology-related research grants from the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Sigma Kappa has become one of the nation's leading contributors to Alzheimer's disease prevention, research and treatment efforts. Since 2016, Sigma Kappa teams have raised over 1,000,000 per year for the Walk to End Alzheimer's!
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
