* My Maternal Grandma died from Alzheimer's and my Mom has it now.
* My friend's Mom Millie Tanner passed away from the disease. Her Family, helped the Community understand how the lives of a dementia victim & their family work, through hours of videos of their mother while she had this disease.
I'm proud Mom was such a go-getter in this world. She was: A teacher, the developer of our IL School District's Gifted In Art Program before the days of gifted programs, an author of "Teaching Children to Draw, Paint & Use Color," an exhibiting Fine artist, well-traveled & educated before the days when many women had an advanced education. MOM TOLD ME SHE WANTED TO MAKE HER MARK ON THE WORLD. She has, through her art, teaching, friendships & travels, but at this point, she can barely remember that. (It's so unfortunate). She will regress backwards, forget how to speak & swallow, from Alzheimer's, and die, unless another illness takes her first.
8 years ago, I found out mom had Alzheimer's & became a volunteer Alzheimer's Ambassador to become more educated, spread Awareness & obtain Funding for a cure. Volunteer work included educating our IL Congressional Rep & traveling to Springfield to Advocate for governmental awareness of the need for greater funding & encouraging the Rep to support his District by voting for more federal funding to research a cure for this degenerative, currently fatal brain disease. Then, as Constituent Advocate, I played a similar role by educating the State Rep because I was a constituent of hers. I was even closer to the cause because she had a smaller base of constituents to deal with.
I'd appreciate your donation to help fund research to cure Alzheimer's.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
