I am fundraising for my husband Steve who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's on our 14th Anniversary. It has affected his mobility making it difficult to walk, get in and out of chairs, etc. He still loves to do things like play cribbage. It bothers me that society has the stigma that the disease immediately takes away their memory. They are still there for many years. Please support the person and visit them if you have a friend or family member suffering. It's not just the person suffering it is the couple going through it together.
I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a donation to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
