My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012. His journey with Alzheimer's was filled with hardships, disappointments, struggles and many tears but he lived each day with sheer strength and determination. My dad was always a fighter and he fought his battle until his very last breath on Veterans Day. As a proud Navy Seabee, his passing on Veterans Day was most fitting. Although I miss him so terribly, I thank God for the honor to have cared when he need us the most. As his final selfless act of helping finding a cure for Alzheimer's, his brain was used to help with medical research and education. In his example, we will continue our fight to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s research, care and support. Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease. I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
