I want to celebrate my 100th birthday by raising money for the Alzheimer's Association. My late husband, LeMoine had this horrible disease. The last two years of his life were the hardest years of my life.
As I turn 100, I thank God for my life. Most of it’s been wonderful. The not so good and the really awful, taught me so much. Caring for my husband with Alzheimer’s wasn’t awful, it was hell on earth. As in caring for a stranger, who had been a fabulous husband. I had no help, although we could afford it. I had to do this, to be sure all the care was done right and if LeMoine had a good moment, it would be mine. The worst day was when he thought I was his first wife. When he saw I was hurt, he said, "I’m sick, aren’t I? Ask Jerry (our doctor) for a prescription." "I’m so sorry," I replied, "There isn’t any.” That’s why we need you to help us find a cure, to protect your future, and your family.
My son, David has been involved with the Tallahassee Walk to End Alzheimer’s since 2014. He is managing this fundraiser. If you would like to help us put an end to Alzheimer’s, click on Donate button. If you have any questions, or comments, contact me at dorothy@PurpleWillie.com. I would love to talk to anyone who would like to talk to me.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
