As 2020 was difficult, our 2021 has continued to be heart breaking with the passing of my dad, Jim Rogers who was married to my mom for 67 years. In lieu of flowers dad requested donations to be made this year for the Miles for Mimi ALZ walk team.
Below summarizes the 2020 year!
2020 has been a DIFFICULT year for all of us, but to those who have family suffering with Alzheimer's it has been more than challenging! My dad, Jim Rogers hasn't seen my mom in person since March 14th! At this time who knows when COVID restrictions will allow him back into her memory care facility. As each of you know my mom, Ann Rogers has been battling this horrible disease for over 10 years.
Our daughter, Anna (Walker) Davis and her husband, Taylor four years ago joined the walk and since we have participated the past three years and have raised over $35,000 with the support of friends and family.
This year with the obvious precautions still in place due to COVID-19 each person is still encouraged to do their part by "walking". Ironically the Emerald Coast Walk to End Alzheimer's was set to be October 10, 2020 which is the 67th wedding anniversary of my parents. I plan to be walking the beach that day in honor of my parents. I know during these past few months people have lost jobs and times are tough, but if you are looking for a non-profit organization I would appreciate your support!!!
If you have a friend or loved one battling this disease I ask you to make a donation for them, and/or an "anniversary" gift in honor of my parents on October 10 when I will be walking!
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
